Future Station 25

A modern station for volunteer readiness

For many years, the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company recognized the need for a new Station 25 that could better support our members, operations, and the communities we serve. In 2019, the process of developing a new firehouse officially began.

Since that time, the project has faced numerous challenges, including local political issues, the loss of a proposed building site, funding setbacks, the COVID-19 pandemic, and rapidly increasing construction costs. Despite these obstacles, the Company continued working toward its goal and has now reached the most stable and promising point in the project’s history.

With greatly appreciated federal assistance secured through West Virginia’s United States Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, the project received $875,000 and $2,841,000, respectively, for a total of $3,716,000. Without their support, the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Company would not be in a position to move forward with this important project.

The new Station 25 will represent a major improvement in every aspect of our operations compared with our current station. The facility will enhance the way the Company conducts its administrative business, training, fundraising, emergency-response preparation, and daily activities. It will also provide improved living accommodations, allowing members to remain at the station overnight and voluntarily staff the facility, helping reduce response times and improve service to the communities we protect.
